Low temperatures

Low temperatures

When the temperature is low or negative, the lubricating function then becomes problematic.

When the lubricant reaches its freezing or pour point, it can no longer run and therefore does not play its role.

Low temperature applications are most often lubricated with synthetic solutions to enable :

  • Cold equipment start up,
  • Protection of mechanisms,
  • Easy pumpability of the lubricants as a result of the suitable viscosity index.

The fields concerned are particularly the food industry (deep-freezing, freezing, dry-roasting, cryogenics), railway, aeronautics, public works, etc.
